Gala

Gala was our first ES. We got her from the Beebe's. They usually have their pups sold by 6 weeks so we went to see the litter at 3 weeks and picked her out from the available 4 females (out of 14!). It was hard to see her personality but she seemed to want to snuggle the most. And I thought she was the prettiest. Went back to pick her up at 6 1/2 weeks, such a little one. She settled in quickly and we soon saw how smart she was. She was easy to train and was very sweet and affectionate but with a somewhat regal, independent air about her. She never did get too big (35-40 pounds) but that didn't deter her in her attempts to herd our cow. She was fearless and had alot of natural ability. Despite her sometimes regal air, she had a comical side as well and loved to play and get revved up. She loved to come runnning into the house and fly like a missle up onto the couch to greet her humans. We used to yell "INCOMING!" and cover our faces as there was no stopping her LOL! She loved everyone and she was much loved by us all. When she was just 10 months old, she was hit on our road as she was coming back from investigating a ground hogs den across from our house. We didn't realize it at the time, but two days later, the other dogs caught it and we found its hole near our mailbox and it all added up. We still miss her and her sweet, quirky ways, but I credit her with showing me just how wonderful a dog the ES can be. She holds a special place in my heart.
