Early life:

Mona grew up in England, Kuwait, and the United States before she came back to Egypt at the age of thirteen.


Starting career:

She began her acting career by coincidence at the age of sixteen when she knew that her favorite actor& director Mohammed Sobhi is looking for a young actress, for a role in his play, "Bel3araby El Fasih". Her only wish was to see him, she didn't prepare to act. Then he asked her to come the other day. She was delighted as she will see him again. Then she got surprised when she was chosen to such a role. Mohammed Sobhi helped her to increase her talent, she was given exercises in ballet & voice exercises.


Education:

She joined Cairo University, studying Mass Communication and she also enrolled for a short period of time in the Institute for Theatrical Studies.


Start in TV:

Her start was from the institute for Theatrical Studies, where she was spotted by the TV director Ismail Abd El Hafez who gave her a small role in the TV series, "Al-Ae'la".
Following "Al-Ae'la", She took part in many TV series like "Khalty Safiyya wal Deir", "Ahalina", "Nesf Rabee Al-Akhar", "3a2lt Shams" and "El Do2 El Shared" a matter that gave her popularity among teenagers as well as elders.


Career in Cinema:

Her career in the big screen began in 1994 in the film "Al-Katl Al-Lazeez". Then she was given a major role in the film "Edhak El-Soora Tetlaa' Helwa" with the famed actor Ahmed Zaki and the director Sherif Arafa. A film that she considers as one of the closest to her heart.
She proved herself as a talented star when she acted in the comedy hit, "Saeedi Fel Gamaa EL-Amerikia" with Mohammed Heneidy, Ahmed El-Sakka, and directed by Saeed Hamed. Her next film was "Fares Dahr El-Kheil", directed by Atef Salem (this film hasn't been released yet) and then followed this up with a role in the critical hit "Omar 2000".
Her latest roles include the films "Al-Hobb Al-Awwal" and "Leih Khalletny Ahebbak" which were both box office hits. Mona has also proved that she is a multi-talented actor as she portrayed the role of former Egyptian first lady Jihan Sadat in the film "Days of Sadat", directed by Mohammed Khan. The film is on theaters since 4 th of July 2001.
Her last film is "Africano" where she makes the role "Gamila" who is a young lady living in South Africa and she thought that her Cousine "Ahmed El Sakka" came to steal her money. The film is on cinemas since 11 th of July 2001.

Mona is now shooting 2 films "Sahar El Lyaly" with Hanan Turk and "El Shara3'eesh".


Career in theater:

Her first play was with Mohammed Sobhi. Then she made "L3b 3yal" with Khaled El Nabawy and Rania Farid Shawky. And "Ya mssafer w7dak" with Nour El Sherif.
Her last play was "Afrooto" with Mohammed Hneidy, Ahmed El Sakka, Hani Ramzy and Hassan Hossny.

Recently in a TV program in Ramadan " E3traf" She said that she would never make sexy roles, as she will never respect herself if she did such roles. (These words increased her popularity, as her popularity has never depended on such disgusting roles, but depends on naturalness and talent)
