Transcriptions

The saxophone is around 158 years old. Unfortunately, that means the saxophone missed much of our music history. Well-known composers could not compose for the instrument. Therein lies the problem of a lack of literature. Transcribing is the process of adapting a piece for another instrument, ensemble or setting. By way of transcribing, a saxophonist can learn about all the major musical periods and major composers that most other instrumentalists take for granted. Transcriptions have proven to be a great asset for the saxophone. I have given a few pages from my transcriptions and MP3 files where possible.
