The Locations of Angons Found in England

At the time of the Anglo-Saxon settlement in Britain the barbed spear was waning in favor of the more numerous leaf-shaped spear.  But as the map below shows, a fair number of angons have been discovered in England, especially in the southeast where some of the earliest warriors settled.  Although the Britons called these Germanic people 'Saxons', Anglo-Saxon sources tell us that Hengist brought reinforcements from Angeln.

It is believed that the Saxons got their name from a weapon that they often used, a long knife called the
seax.  And how many of these seaxes have been found that date to the fifth century?  None.  Zero.
