                            The Nordic Stream
In The Passing of the Frisians DJH Nyessen illustrates how, for hundreds of years, Friesland was settled by many tribes from Scandinavia.  The Frisians of today are not exclusively Danish, Norwegian, or Swedish, but rather a combination of various Scandinavian peoples.  Friesland was truly a Nordic melting pot.   And although the term "hybrid" is just as appropriate a description of their English cousins, the offensive (and racist!) word mongrel is used instead.
