Review: Now, I usually don't go for the Goth scene, detailed clothing descriptions or Willow/Giles pairing. And ths story has all three. But it also has character accuracy in unusual situations, wonderful detail in those unusual situations, and a refreshing lack of angst. I love angst, but I also love stories without it that manage not to be too fluffy. Suricata made believe that Giles could look good in leather pants, Willow could chill in an underground s/m goth type club, and the two could have hot, almost animalistic sex against...well, don't want to spoil it, now do I? On the one hand, I did want to read more, on the other...this lovely little story is great just the way it is.

Primary Characters : Pacey and Joey
Length: 4 parts, and a very brief epilogue.
Review: Standard enough premise here, but it's not the premise that caught my eye. It's the very believable way she makes Pacey and Joey interact. The dialogue could be straight out of the show, most of the time, and the character's reactions to the events are believable from both a DC and a teenage point of view. The first two "sex" scenes held a nervous, but hot believability that I seldom see in Dawson's fic. The truck scene is one of the sexiest blow job scenes I've ever read in fic, and I am a sucker for a good blow job scene. No pun intended. :) Dawson reacted neither as a raving asshole nor as Mr. Super Understanding which was refreshing. And frankly, his protests about Joey's history held a lot of truth. The final scene let me down a little, only because I wanted it to be longer, a little less chatty and for it to hold a little more of combination of nervous wonder and newly found sexual power that the first two held. But taken as a whole, this is one of the best DC fics I've read. I look forward to reading more of Laura's work.

A Life Less Ordinary by Courtney

Primary Characters: Michael and Maria
Review: Like the Buffy story mentioned above, this takes two characters way out of the element of the series. In ALLO's case, to a small town in the southeastern US. Courney, dear, please finish this story, because I love it to death. The story opens with Michal and Maria living under the assumed identity of a married couple struggling to make ends meet. They skipped town after a violent encounter with Hank that left Michael with a head wound. It goes without saying (especially if you've read the prolific Courtney's other Roswell fic) that the characterizations are excellent and the descriptions and little details of her story draw you in totally. Although you know M+M are going to get together, the gentle way she does it makes you feel the self imposed sexual tension the two have lived in for months.
Yes, I think you need to suspend the tiniest bit of disbelief that Maria would up and leave with Michael that readily, but I did with barely a blink. And, considering the ludicrous leaps of logic so many writers make, it's a very tiny suspension. Courtney handles the leaps back and forth in time adeptly, and the change in the characters over the course of the story, while internal, is dynamic. There are so many little threads of plot and hints just waiting to be expanded upon in coming chapters, Courtney, so if you read this, please consider picking this one back up. As a fellow writer (and one who has let popular pieces dangle for years, I understand that muse leaves you sometimes) but this one is one of your best,IMHO, and worth a few more chapters.
