Fog Light Mod (8/2001)

Equipment

Directions

  1. Unscrew the Shift Knob counter clockwise.
  2. Remove the Center Console.  Do this simply by prying up on it from the sides and it will pop out.  Held in by small clips.  Make sure that if any of the Metal clip pieces fall off, you are sure to put them back on.  Otherwise it will not be secure when you are all done and will possibly rattle.

  3. When pulling off the Center Console, disconnect the sockets which held on the Lighter's power supply cable as well as the light itself.

  4. Remove the two screws at the bottom of the Radio Console.

  5. Pull till the clips (same type that hold down the Center Console) release the Radio Console.  (again, make sure that if you loose clips, find them and place them back on)  Do this slowly and make sure you don't bend the Radio Console till it breaks.  Mine came off very smoothly.  Also you don't have too much slack on the wires on the buttons, so also be sure not to pull too strong on the wires, wouldn't want any to get pulled out.  (now you can see the buttons and their wires)

  6. Pull the socket off of the Fog Light button.

  7. Lay down the Radio Console away from the plug end of the Fog Light switch which you just removed.

  8. Cut the Red wire on this plug end, about in the middle of the exposed wire you can see.

  9. Place electrical tape on the end which goes into the car.  (so that it cannot ground out)

  10. Take the splice item and connect the Red wire (on the plug side) to the Orange wire.

  11. Plug it back into the Socket for the Fog Light switch.

  12. Push the Radio Console back onto the dash so the clips all slip into place.

  13. Screw the two screws in the bottom back into place.

  14. Slide the shift boot over the gear shift lever.

  15. Attach the Lighter's power supply cable as well as the light bulb to the Center Console.

  16. Slide the Center Console down, making sure all clips are in place.

  17. Screw the Shift Knob back onto the Gear Shift Lever clockwise.

  18. BINGO!  You are done, test it and see if it works.
