I bought the Maverick when I was a junior in highschool....I wanted a Cuda' but my Dad saw this car in the paper for $2700, and we went ot take a look at it...the rest is history. I drove the car everyday day for the next 2 years, and at that time the car had about 70,000 miles on it. It was time for a re-ring kit ( It was smoking a little blue) so he sold one of his guns, and I came up with a couple hundred and we were going to just fix the problem. Well it is now 6 years later, and what started as a simple job ended up as being a build-up of a 450 horsepowered 306 Ford engine. We showed the car for a while, but that got old so we started racing at MAR in Wentzville, MO. We take turns racing the car as much as possible. I would not trade or sell this car for anything,

It is very rare to have your Dad as your best friend, but I could not imagine it any other way. Everytime I ever race at the track he is there. Racing is not only a part of my life, it is a part of who I am, and I feel lucky that a car, a mere $2700, could bring a father and son so close. |

As far as times are concerned, I can admit that my dad has the faster time between us. He has ran a 12.20, and my best is a 12.22...BUT...I do have a .502 reaction under my belt, which I am a little quicker off the starting line. But then again, he can run consistent .5XX all day if he is on his game. I think we compliment each other well. I would do anything for you dad, always know that. |
