Dad's Progress
Donna's Journal |Fat Chick In Oz | The Other Fat Chick In Oz
Dad is 57 years old and has always been quite healthy. He started to have dizzy spells and generally not feeling quite right, so went to see a doctor. He was diagnsed with Type 2 Diabetes. He needs to lose 15 kgs (only half of what I need to!!)
He will be swimming as exercise and is on a low fat diet. He loves fruit and vegetables so I don't think he will have any problems. We have currently got a bet going on how each other will stick to our plans. :) A little healthy competition never killed anyone ! :)
He is currently 108kg and wants to get down to 85kgs. So wish him luck and stay tuned for updates on this page on how he is going. His eating plan will be put on this page at a later date.
UPDATE 22nd December 2000 (106kg)
OK...I write this for Dad as he is a complete braindead with computers!! He is doing VERY well. :) He has lost 2 kgs and since starting the exercising he has felt like he has more energy. He is swimming everyday as well as using an easyrider. He has been eating plenty of fruit and vegies and minimal amounts of meat. Will keep you posted on how he is going. :)

Like myself - dad gets frustrated with the fluctuating weights. He is doing all the right things. Eating loads of fresh fruit and vegies, low fat everything and no sugar (where possible). He is swimming everyday and feeling fine. The amount he can eat because he loves fruit and vegies is great!! He is doing very well considering he is on holidays at the moment and that is when we all tend to over eat. More later!
January 5th 2001(105kg)
What a great start to the new
year! Dad has lost weight steadily and even had an excellent
report from his doctor. He (the doctor) is happy with his weight
loss and also checked his blood sugar level which was in the
normal range!! He also said his blood pressure is very close to
normal. What the doctor was really impressed with was the fact
that someone had come to see him and actually followed the advice
given Dad should be very proud of himself because it certainly
wasn't easy on any of us over the holiday period to stick to the
eating plan. He has been eating a very healthy diet of low fat,
low carb and moderated meat. His treats are fruit and low cal ice
cream - now I think anyone could live with that! :) He sees the
doctor again in a month and I think the news will be even better.
Dad's motto is if you are going to do something - then you may as
well do it properly! Well he is certainly sticking to that!
Hopefully we will have some photos up soon for everyone to have a
geeza at. :)
