Well, I have to admit, I've always been a hopeless romantic, and when it comes to hopeless romance, these two take the cake. Gojyo and Hakkai are almost constantly batting back and forth in an unrequitted love. Hakkai is always taking care of Gojyo (and probably has been for the past three years), while Gojyo is fiercely protective over Hakkai. So why the constant bantering?

My general speculation: Gojyo and Hakkai are hiding a lot. Hakkai doesn't know what to do concerning the fact that he feels he cannot be with anyone outside of Kanan, and Gojyo thinks he is very, very straight (contrary to popular belief).

Both would probably also think that in proposing a relationship to the other, they would be ruining a perfectly good friendship. So what's the probability of them ever admitting they love one another? It's hard to say. In the three episodes near the end of the first season, when Goku goes berzerk, Gojyo worries a lot over Hakkai, showing some affection you may not have seen otherwise.

Personally, I think this pairing works best out of any of them, if only because of the way the two cancel one another almost perfectly. Hakkai's subtle grace and Gojyo's sharp attitude are perfectly contrasting in every way. I think if anyone has a chance of getting together... it's these two.
