Mountain Prison

There's really not much to tell behind these two... except... when Sanzo was 13 (I think that's right), he started hearing someone calling for him in his head. Asking where he was and when he was coming.

When his master was killed, Sanzo left to find the missing sutra and ended up following the voice as well, to a mountain prison four years later.

He was prepared to deck the perpetrator something fierce, but when he saw the face of the scruffy little boy with the wide and frightened eyes, as dazed as a child just seeing the face of God, he... couldn't.

Though he was unsure why, Sanzo reached through the bars and told the boy to come along, as he couldn't just leave him there. As the boy reached up to clasp the monk's hand, the chains holding him and the bars with the ofuda covering them disappeared as if they had never existed.

Thus began their journey together, Sanzo as Goku's keeper and mentor, and Goku remaining as fiercely loyal as the day they met.
