Announcements (August 4, 2002)

1. Our two-bit collection is for resolving our parish debt. Last Sunday $1,659 were given in the second collections in the English and Filipino Masses. The overall total for July was $5,901. This represents almost ten percent of our $60,000 goal. Thank you for your continued support.

2. Also thank you for your donations in the first collection. $9,369 were given at the seven weekend Masses. If each family would give an additional five dollars each Sunday, we could rapidly take care of this problem and advance with programs of religious education and liturgy. Thank you.

3. We still have openings in our parish school for PreKindergarten, Kindergarten, second and fourth grades - as well as limited openings in middle school. You may pick up an application form at the rectory office.

4. The Bible Study/ Prayer Group features a video series by Dr. Scott Hahn. It meets every Sunday evening at 7 p.m. in the Ailbe House. Please see the bulletin for full information.

5. The pot luck dinner and listening session for Vietnamese members of Holy will take place on August 22 at 6 p.m. Newly ordained Deacon Thanh Dao will assist with translation. Also, next weekend Deacon Thanh Dao will preach at our three English Masses.

6. The Parish Picnic is Saturday, September 21st. It will feature a variety of foods: pizza cart, Mexican and Filipino foods and of course hot dogs. There will be games for children and adults - including Bingo. Please see the bulletin for more information.

7. Baptism classes for parents of small children will take place on August 2th and 19th, 7 p.m. in the Ailbe House Library. Please contact the parish office to register.

8. The parish CYO Athletic Club will meet August 6 (Tuesday) at 7 p.m. in the school hall. We need your help to keep our kids playing CYO sports. All are welcome to attend. Also please see the pink flier in the bulletin regarding the Signup Night for Soccer, Wednesday, August 14, at 7 p.m. Any child 6 to 14 years of age may participate.

9. Volunteers are needed for Eucharistic Adoration, Monday nights 11 p.m. to midnight. Call Joe or Betty whose numbers are in the bulletin.

10. We will have a bilingual celebration of the Sacrament of the Sick next Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.

11. Scrip is for sale after Mass. Please use scrip to purchase gasoline and shop for groceries, as well as Kentucky Fried Chicken, Burger King, etc. It costs nothing extra and is an effective way of supporting your parish and its school.
