Announcements (July 21, 2002)

1. Our two-bit collection is for elimination of parish debt. Last Sunday $1,498 were given in the second collections at our seven weekend Masses. Together with the previous Sunday this gives us $3,028 toward our goal of sixty thousand. You will find a full break down of collections in the bulletin. Thank you for your support. Also thank you for your donations in the first collection. A total of $9,973 were given at the seven weekend Masses. We need $10,673 each week to meet operating expenses. If every family would give an additional five dollars each Sunday, we could rapidly take care of our "negative cash position" and advance with programs of religious education and liturgy. Thank you.

2. We still have openings in our parish school for PreKindergarten, Kindergarten, second and fourth grades - as well as limited openings in middle school. You may pick up an application form at the rectory office.

3. The Bible Study/ Prayer Group features a video series by Dr. Scott Hahn. It meets every Sunday evening at 7 p.m. in the Ailbe House. Please see the bulletin for full information.

4. The pot luck dinner and listening session for those who participate in Eucharist Adoration will take place on Saturday, July 27, beginning at 6 p.m. In the bulletin you will find the alphabetical list indicating which food item to bring.

5. The Parish Picnic is Saturday, September 21st. It will feature a variety of foods: pizza cart, Mexican and Filipino foods and of course hot dogs. There will be games for children and adults - including Bingo. Please see the bulletin for more information.

6. The first session of the Summer Bible Camp was a great success. The second session will take place from July 29 - August 2. The camp is designed to build faith through fun, age-appropriate activities geared twoard children ages 6 - 14. Cost is $15 per child with discounts for larger families. Please register in the vestibule or call Vernon Wells at the rectory for more information.

7. Next Sunday after the 8 a.m. Mass there will be a Farewell Part for Vernon Wells who will be entering the Dominicans in August. Please come to thank Vernon for his good work in our parish and to wish him well as he takes this step.
