    Ont.
    They had 5 children. James, Joseph, Janet and Samantha.

1. JAMES LANG CAIRNS: Born 7 Feb 1848, died 3 Aug 1934. He
    married Eva West, born 13 Jan 1861, died 1936.
    Both buried Beechwood Cemetery, Forest, Ont.
    They had 8 children. John, James, Newton, Samantha, Wilfred,
    Catherine, Mary and Joseph.

        (1) JOHN WILLIAM ANSON CAIRNS: Born 13 Oct 1879, died
             1915. In 1904, he married Florence Sibley.

        (2) JAMES LANG "ARMOND" CAIRNS: Born 22 Aug 1880, died
             1961. In 1912, he married Ethel L. Carson, born 1888, died
             1939.

        (3) NEWTON ANDREW CAIRNS: Born 5 Feb 1885, died 27 Oct
             1966, Wyoming, Mich. On the 25 Jul 1907, he married Myrtle
             Olive Grant, born 18 Oct 1881, Grand Rapids, Mich., died
             29 Jul 1964. (d/o John Grant and Jane "Jennie" Cairns).

             1977. She married Thomas Sherman Symington, born 18 Dec

2. JOSEPH CAIRNS: Born 10 May 1852, died 20 Dec 1905. He married
    Frances Elizabeth Ross, born 3 May 1852, died 4 Jun 1932.
    (d/o Robert Ross and Elizabeth Benson).
    Both buried Beechwood Cemetery, Forest, Ont.
    They had 5 children. Elizabeth, Mary, Son & Daughter (Twins) and
    Josephine.

     Joseph owned a General Store in Camlachie, Ont.

              She married Warner McRoberts born 9 Oct 1868, died 1925.

Mary went by the name Minnie.

3. JANET AGNES CAIRNS: Born 1857, died 1936, Victoria, B.C. She
    married Harry Smith, born 1849, died 1910.
    Janet buried Victoria, B.C.
    They had at least 2 children. Joseph and Oliver.

At one time lived at Assiniboia, Sask.

        (1) JOSEPH A. SMITH: Born 16 Oct 1883. On the 30 Sep 1914, in
             Elrose, Sask., he married Mary Ellen Cairns, born 14 Oct 1885,
             died 16 Jan 1954. (d/o James Anderson Cairns and Margaret
             Purcell).
             Both buried Calgary, Alta.
             They had 2 children. Margaret and Marion.

        (2) OLIVER BLAKE SMITH: Born Jul 1891. On the 16 Dec 1918,
             he married Rachel Lilah Cairns, born 17 Sep 1895. (d/o James
             Anderson Cairns and Margaret Purcell).
             They had 3 children. John, Henry and Helen.

4. JOHN THOMAS CAIRNS: Born 7 Oct 1863, died 15 Dec 1918, Shoal
    Lake, Man. On the 18 Jun 1886, he married Annie Murray, born
    6 Jan 1863, died 2 Feb 1955. (d/o Adam Murray and Ann Lunam).
    Both buried Shoal Lake, Man.
    They had 12 children. Laura, Bertha, John, Annie, Clara, Jane,
    Gordon, Thomas, Charles, Robert, Della and Grace.

              John buried Birtle, Man.
              They had 2 children. John and Thomas.

John was killed by lightning while working on the binder in the
fields.

              Laura re-married Rev. Allan Hanley, a widower with 4 children.
              They had 6 children. Laura, Donald & Douglas (Twins), Helen,
              Dorothy and Margaret.

         (2) BERTHA CAIRNS: Born 29 Dec 1888, died 15 Aug 1977. On
              the 26 Jul 1909, she married William Wilburn Wilfred Wilson.
              They had 6 children. Edith, Marjorie, Wilma, Gwen, Beth and
              John.

              William was a lawyer in Russell, Man.

         (3) JOHN HAROLD CAIRNS: Born 23 Jun 1890, died 19 Nov
              1980, Vancouver, B.C. On the 20 Nov 1916, he married Ruth
              Hainstock, born 23 Jun 1890, died 19 Nov 1980.
              They had 1 child. Anna.
