Eleanor (Hume) Hume was the widow of William Hume 1795-1851
with whom she had 9 children.
Eleanor married a third time to
Peter Anderson.

Martha had requested that she be
buried in their own back yard,
but Thomas honoured her by choosing the choicest spot near
the centre of the farm setting aside one acre of land, facing the
road as "God's Acre" and there he buried his wife Martha.
This was the beginning of the
"Saunders Family Cemetery" and
descendants of this pioneer couple, planted beautiful evergreen
trees, shrubs and to this day this Cemetery with it's neatly
trimmed grass and well kept graves is indeed "God's Acre."
In some census and records the name is spelt SANDERS.
