Wenge Musica was formed in 1981 by Didier Masela, Aimé Bwanga, Werrason and Alain Mwanga. The young outfit played modern soukous music in the style of Zaiko Langa Langa. Singers like J.B. M'Piana and Marie-Paul Kambulu joined later.
Around 1990, a split-up between two factions led to the formation of Wenge Musica BCBG (Bon Chic, Beau Genre) with Werrason and M'Piana on the one hand, and Wenge Musica Aile Paris (Paris-wing) with singer Marie Paul Kambulu and Alain Mwanga on the other hand. Under the leadership of J.B. M'Piana and Werrason, BCBG became the most popular of all Wenge outfits.
In 1997, singers J.B. M'Piana and Werrason split up the band in J.B. M'Piana's Wenge BCBG and Wenge Musica Maison Mère. Ever since, there is a vivid competition between J.B.M'Piana and Werrason.

J.B. M'Piana, Alain Makaba Prince, Alain Mpela Afandé, Blaise Bula Parrain, Titina Grand Prêtre, Kisolokele Kis, Aimela La voix qui cloche, Burkina Faso Kasongo. Most of these musicians have left BCBG now for solo careers or rivalling groups.
