This page is for a very long lost sister. After all the siblings finally reunited, I made Dee aware that Dad used to talk about other children that were siblings to June. June and they had the same mother; Gertrude Woodley. Once I found Dee, she made me aware of June's mothers name. With that knowledge I began researching to see if I could find any info on the deceased children that dad had mentioned. After hitting alot of brick walls with this search I ran across a web site for a library in Shelby, N.C. The site advertised that they helped folks find geneology info, via microfiche, old records, etc. The person that headed up this section of the library was Jim Holland. Turns out the was an expert in his field. I sent him an email naming my father and Gertrude Woodley asking if he had any old obits or records of any of their kids passing. They didn't but I was persistent. I knew he was in the same county and area, near Kings Mountain where dad and Gertrude lived and June was born. Jim took it upon himself to call the court house and actually found and old death certificate on our sister, Dorotha Sue. Until now we never knew she existed. Jim actually took time out of his busy schedule to drive down to the court house, find the record and copy it and mail it to me. I can never thank him enough for his generosity and kindness. After recieving the death certificate, it stated that she had died in infancy due to either pneumonia or smothering as she was found deceased upon my dad awaking the next morning. We discovered that my dad had actually grabbed her up and rushed her to the doctor only to be told that she was DOA.
We know that dad talked about losing at least 1 other child during his marriage to Gertrude. As of present, we have not been able to locate any more children. Our search continues.
We now know who this little girl was and how she came to pass. I am forever grateful for that.
