1. Administrative Items
A. Review and approval of outstanding minutesMinutes from the March meeting were approved without modification.
A. Electric BusHelen mentioned that once the buses all arrive in the City/area, they will undergo about 2 months of testing to ensure their reliability. No date on when the buses could be expected.
B. Development ProjectsHelen mentioned that there is a group trying to develop the Adcom site. They are seeking a special exception to allow residential development on top of commercial for this site - a good use of the mixed use redevelopment ordinance. More information is forthcoming. The Anderson site development is still looking for tenants but that project is moving forward, as well.
The City is about to embark on a “visioning” exercise to redevelop the CBD area. This will consist generally of sketching out what a vibrant, healthy CBD would look like – mainly from a design standpoint. The process will take 4 or 5 months with amply opportunity for public involvement. The CACT will eventually have an opportunity to comment formally.
There is a new subdivision project going in on South Oak Street, near Broad.
C. Transportation Task ForceThe City has proposed a chicane and two speed humps to address the speeding problems on West Marshall Street. The residents on Hillwood Avenue have apparently come to some sort of agreement on traffic calming designs for that street.
D. Progress of Pedestrian / Walkability PlanAttendees discussed the on-going development of a Pedestrian/Walkability Plan for the City. Members are still engaged in canvassing the assigned Wards. Updates will be provided at the next meeting. It was mentioned that a target date for drafts should be established.
