1. Administrative Items
A. Review and approval of outstanding minutesApril minutes were approved without modification.
A. Electric BusHelen (not in attendance) provided info on this project. All four buses to be employed in the project were finally delivered to Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) property. The City is planning to test the buses for 45 days to determine if they are working properly. Hopefully, service can begin after the evaluation is completed and the glitches (if any) are worked out.
B. Development ProjectsThis item was skipped.C. Transportation Task Force
Two requests have come into City staff to look at speeding and pedestrian safety at the light at Lincoln and West Streets and on Noland Street. Helen suggested to the person on Noland that they consider requesting the construction of a sidewalk on their street as they say they feel unsafe as people walk their dogs and ride their bikes in the street and cares and with cars that are speeding.
D. Progress of Pedestrian / Walkability PlanRob discussed his progress with his Ward scan for the plan. Others were continuing with their scans and progress is continuing.E. Letter to the Editor
Rob discussed a letter he drafted to the editor of the News Press regarding traffic and pedestrian issues in the City. The purpose is to inform people of the pending pedestrian plan and to solicit volunteers for the CACT. There have been two vacancies since John Byrne and Maureen Budetti left that have yet to be filled. The CACT members agreed that the letter to the editor should be sent.
