I am Fred (Derf) Carrington, physics teacher.  I welcome you to the world of physcs at Grant High School located in the beautiful San Fernando Valley in sunny California.  I hope this page  leads you into the wonderland of learning physics, because PHYSICS IS REALLY KOOL!.

Whether it be rocket building, save the egg drop, popsicle stick bridge building, musical instrument construction, camera design, electrical devise invention, or some other facet of this wonderful science, you will find that phsyics rules!  Physics, you will find,  is a challenging and truly interesting exploration of the world around us.

ROCKET DAY WINNERS: Alan Roytman, Jeison Recinos and Salvador Pena were last year's 2003 rocket contest winners.

BRIDGE CONTEST: Manet Mkrtchyan and Derf (Fred Carrington) display Manet's bridge that placed third in both strength and strength to mass divisions at last year's competion at CSLA.  The contest, the 8th Annual Popsicle Bridge Contest, was held at California State College at Los Angeles during February of 2003.  Manet's bridge took almost 800 pounds before breaking!
HONORS PHYSICS: Arpe plays a hot lick on her newly built guitar.  Yes she built this instrument from scratch.  All students in Honors Physics are required to construct and perform on a musical instrument of therir own inverntion.
AP PHYSICS:
Michael Morrisey tweeks his homemade electric motor in order to get it moving.  Students in AP Physics must construct a devise that runs on or produced electric energy.  It must use the concepts we studied in class
