GRANT HIGH SCHOOL 2001

This year the contest at CSULB (California State University at Long Beach) took place on February 1, 2001.

Some 30 schools were involved this year and there were three categories in which they competed --
strongest bridge, greatest load to mass ratio, and most aesthetically pleasing.   Our teams came away with a first place in load to mass ratio and most aesthetically pleasing.  Needless to say the kids were very pleased.

Alex Revekko and Srbui Ovsepyan with their winning 842 bridge at CSULB.
These amazing bridges are made of popsicle sticks and Elmer's water-based glue and must weigh under one pound.  There are various other rules such that the sticks can not be laminated or in any other way be turned into a beam stronger than a single stick.
