| Hans-Max Joan Gamper Haessig He was born in a town in Switzerland called Winterthur the 22. of November 1877. He was a great sportsman and practiced cycling, athletics, rugby and soccer. In 1899 he founded FC Barcelona, of whitch he was player, and he occupied the presidency in diverse occasion: From the 2. of December 1908 to the 14. of October 1909; from the 17. of November 1910 to the 30. of June 1919; from the 17. of July 1921 to the 29. of June 1923 and from the 1. of June 1924 to the 17. of December 1925. Gamper was the fundamental impeller of FC Barcelona in those first years of existence. Gamper has been the most important, dicisive and influental personage of the club. He have been president five time, when the club did not have eny president. Gamper that totalized nine years of mandate, avoided that the Barça ended up disintegrating victim of the events of diverse kind, that took place at the beginning of the century. The 30'th July 1930 died Joan Gamper, the founder of the Club, and the city of Barcelona honor him. The body was guarded by the directors, players and civil employees of the club. To the following day was tranferred to the social premises of the street Diputación-Paseo de Gracia, where the ardent chapel settled. The city granted to call a street after him and the club reserved the membership-card to him with number 1. |
