Morgaine was born on the old European Continent on Earth in a country
which was formerly known as The Netherlands. She was born as an only
child to her parents who were busy researchers for the Federation Science
Counsel on Earth. This meant that Morgaine usually had to take care of
herself. By the age of 19 she had seen most part of the Earth, but she wanted more and decided to enroll into Starfleet Academy in order to see the Galaxy. She was quickly accepted. The Dominion Wars had broken out in full fury and Starfleet had recently launched it's invasion of Chintoka. Due to the enormous losses, Starfleet was searching for personel everywhere. Morgaine had joined the Medical Division. Things would turn to real for her soon when her unit of Cadets was activated and attached to the Starfleet Marine Corps shortly after the Breen had joined the war and had crippled the Federation Fleet. Morgaine's unit never saw action, she did have to treat quite a few soldiers, who were returned from the frontline. The sight of those soldiers, wounded, mutilated or dead took a heavy toll on the young, uncertain cadet. She performed her duties well though and quickly overcame any difficulties. When peace was finally established, Morgaine was recruited into the newly formed FDTF, given the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and was assigned as CMO to the USS Renegade under Colonel Phoebe Sheppard. Morgaine served a very short time on the Renegade and saw very little action. Due to enourmous shortage in personal and an excellent service record, Morgaine was promoted Lt. Colonel and assigned First Officer of the Renegade, 2 months after her initial transfer. The ship was decommissioned 3 weeks later due to irrepairable damage to the hull. Morgaine transferred to the Marine Vessel USS Knight and was assigned First Officer to Colonel AJ Seaman. Shortly after that, the FDTF Marine Division was decommissioned and the ships were integrated into the FDTF fleet. Morgaine decided to stay with the FDTF rather than joining the Starfleet Marine Corps again and was given the Starfleet equivalent rank of Commander and remained XO Captain Seaman was discharged due to gross misconduct and Morgaine was forced to take command of the USS Knight. Shortlyafter that, the Knights Squadron Leader resigned. Unable to find a replacement, Morgaine, the ship commander with most experience, despite her short serving time, was appointed temporary Squadron Commander of the 4th Squadron and remained Captain of the USS Knight. Since all changes were temporal at that moment, she didn't receive an official promotion. The burden of command soon proved to be too much for Morgaine. She decided she wasn't ready for Command of ship. She resigned her commission as Squadron Commander and ship Captain. Morgaine transferred to the new FDTF Academy as Assistant Commandant under Rear Admiral Jan Vogels. During her stay in the Academy, Morgaine and Jan became romantically involved. The romance ended when both accepted new postings. Morgaine was posted as Counselor to the USS Skywalker, the former FDTF Flag Ship, under Vice Admiral Snowden. The Skywalker would become Morgaine longest assignment to that date. With the Skywalker crew she undertook many missions, yet real combat mission were still unknown to Morgaine, who sometimes doubted her ability to use a weapons. Morgaines real baptism of fire came when the Skywalker was dispatched to the Black Cluser to face a rebel threat together with the other FDTF ships. Despite the ships advanced technology and excellent crew, it was overwhelmed and eventually boarded and captured. All crewmen were either killed or captured. The senior staff had survived completely and was imprisoned within the ship. Morgaine and her commrades managed to escape, using all knowlegde they had on their ship. They worked hard to free other crewmembers and free the ship. The rebels didn't gave up that easy and the result was bloody corridor fighting including hand-to-hand combat. But the crew was successful. Moreover, Morgaine had overcome any doubts in her ability and proved to be more than an average soldier in this occasion. The aftermath of that battle was followed by changes in the FDTF. Ships had been losts, personel killed. Morgaine was again offered command of her own ship and she accepted. A month after the Black Cluster she was installed as Captain of Steamrunner Frigate, USS Myrddin and assigned to the 2nd Squadron. Morgaine served a short time as Captain, before regretting that choice again. Morgaines perfectionism was a thorn in her side. Things on her ship didn't go exactly the way she wanted it and that frustated her greatly. Although she was popular and respected where ever she went, she didn't have much confidence in her abilities as ship Captain and asked for a re-transfer. The Myrddin was ordered back to space-dock and Morgaine was offered a position by an old friend of her days as Academy instructor. She joined the USS De Ruyter, the Defiant Class Flag Ship of the Second Squadron, under Rear Admiral Jan Vogels as Helmsman but was reduced in rank to Lieutenant Commander. The old romance quickly flared up again. Morgaine served as Helmsman on the USS De Ruyter for some months, causing many nightmares to her CO and friend. When the XO of the USS De Ruyter was promoted to Captain in April of 2377, Jan offered Morgaine the position of XO. He knew her feelings about Command but decided to go for it. With new confidence, Morgaine took the offer and at present still serves as First Officer on the USS De Ruyter. She doesn't maintain much contact to her family on Earth. Her family was disgruntled about the fact that she joined Starfleet, thinking of it as too militaristic. She does maintain close contacts to her old friends on Earth and former commrades of the Renegade, Knight and Skywalker. Morgaine is fond of old style entertainment and music fanatic. She is a sportive person who likes rough hiking through wilderness though she tends to get lost without a tricorder. She also won't hesitate to voice her opinion, a fact that might get her into trouble someday. Morgaines perfectionism still shows up every now and then and she gets angry if things don't happen the way she wants them to happen. The boring, daily routine sometimes takes some heavy toll on her causing her to go 'crazy' sometimes. She learns to control those actions however and is a respected officer in the entire FDTF and a good friend to many and her smile and laugh have eased quite some uneasy situations, also making her a pleasant counselor to talk to. Her romance with her Captain still lasts to this day and has so far not caused any notable problems in her function as his XO. |
