Graduated from Starfleet Academy in 2377 and became the recipient of the Hyperion Medal and also received the Good Conduct Medal. His first posting was as Ensign on board the USS Integrity as Operations Officer. He also was the Acting Security/Tactical Officer and was later promoted to Lieutenant (junior grade). Later along with his shipmates aboard the Integrity he was part of the FDTF Fleet which repelled the Borg Attack of SS Thunder as well as Earth.

After the battle ended the Integrity's First Officer, Commander Gerardo Czajkowski was given his own command and following an executive order by FDTF CO - Admiral Paul Slusser and recommendations by Commander Czajkowski and Capt Graham, Lieutenant (junior grade) Collins was promoted to Commander and appointed Executive Officer of the USS Integrity. As a result of his actions during the battle with the Borg and his exemplary service, Commander Collins received the FDTF Medal, the Combat Action Medal and the Campaign Medal in June 2377.

During a routine mission to the Caltian homeworld the Integrity was attacked by pirates and Captain John Graham became seriously injured resulting in Collins being appointed as Acting Captain until his return to duty. In recognition of his devotion to duty he was promoted to Captain and given command of the USS Horizon. After a successful tour of duty onboard the USS Horizon, Captain Collins was reassigned to SS Valhalla as FDTF Director of Administration.

During a Romulan Plot to use the Genesis Device against the Federation, Captain Collins became Acting CO of SS Valhalla when Vice Admiral Noah was seriously injured. Starfleet Command gave him a field commission of Rear Admiral during the crisis. As a result of his actions Admiral Paul Slusser made the promotion permanent and became Rear Admiral in November 2377.

Rear Admiral Collins remained FDTF Director of Administration until February 2378 when Admiral Paul Slusser announced he was stepping down as FDTF CO and Admiral Calador Noah succeeded him. Admiral Noah promoted Rear Admiral Collins to Vice Admiral and appointed him FDTF XO. Vice Admiral Collins has been Acting FDTF CO on two seperate occassions the last of which was when Admiral Noah was abducted by the Borg in May 2378.As a result of the abduction of Admiral Noah and his subsequent rescue, Starfleet Command relieved Admiral Noah of his duties as FDTF CO and placed him in command of Space Station Valhalla. Admiral Collins was passed over as FDTF CO in favour of Admiral Paul Slusser. As a result Admiral Slusser asked Vice Admiral Collins to remain on as FDTF XO which he accepted.

Awards and Citations

Vice Admiral Collins has been awarded the Combat Star as a result of being Awarded the Combat Medal on three seperate occasions. He has also awarded the Campaign Medal twice. He has also been awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in action during the Romulan attack on SS Valhalla in November 2377.

He was awarded the Hyperion Campaign Medal for his contribution to the Battle to Retake Hyperion from an Alien Species known as the Nesh'Ra. Admiral Collins was given Command of the Fourth Squadron during the campaign and led the assault to retake Hyperion City. Following the Hyperion Campaign he was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for his valued service to the FDTF. He has recently been awarded the Legion of Merit Ribbon for his actions during the abduction of Admiral Calador Noah and also the Unit Commendation Ribbon for his work with the FDTF Personnel Department.
