Born to a well-to-do (but by no means wealthy) Pennsylvania family, Dalton, along with many of his friends, took and interest to space travel and war thanks to the media. War movies were among Dalton's favorite means of entertainment, and planted a seed of interest that would eventually blossom into a starfleet career. Initially, Dalton was simply fascinated by the world beyond Earth because of what he saw in movies. As he grew older, it turned into a more genuine awe and curiosity, which led him to avidly study the history and science of space travel. His father, who was a maintenance mechanic, encouraged his son to study for an engineering job aboard a spacefaring vessel, but Dalton had his eyes set elsewhere. Rather than engineering, Dalton is primarily focused on the tactics of space warfare, and of other related topics. He seems to have a flare for battle, which has manifested itself into a bit of a hot temper than can sometimes make him too prone to conflict - a character flaw Dalton is well aware of, and hopes to mend. Raised by two responsible and morally sound parents, Dalton has developed into a good-natured, personable man. He can often make conversation with any group of people in a variety of environments, and doesn't seem to make many enemies, save for when there is a major conflict of personal beliefs, at which time he can become downright argumentative. |
