When Austin was born to Teraa Relient in the year 2353, half of
Denure, the small city in which his family had settled down, came to meet
him.
When he left in disgrace, no one stood to see him off. It was found that, unlike his mother, who, being half Betazoid, was skilled in the art of telepathy, his mind was better equipped for the skill that is more often seen in humans, telekinesis. He was just strong enough in it to lift a couple rocks to impress his few Betazoid friends. Nothing really useful. Later in life, he went to a two-year Betazed colledge to study Medical Xenobiology. He lost intirest with the subject and began persuing his own intirests, specifically, the use of telekinetic and telepathic technology used by ancient races. He studied many rare artifacts and sites in a time span of two years. But then, his funding was lost and he had to return home to find a new career. It was especially unfortunate as he was just about to create the first modern telekinetic focuser, his own PsiStaff, but that research was cancelled. On Betazed, he studied the ancient Betazoid martial arts. They are now seen as a hobby, and not much use in real life. He had always been fascinated with them. But now he had a use for them, and a far-glimpsed goal for his life. He would join Starfleet, take Security and Tactical training at the Academy campus, then explore the frontier with his ship. He discovered, however, that Starfleet had a more pressing need. Defense. He changed his application and instead volunteered for the Federation Defense Task Force. Young, a little desperate (in terms of money)and anxious to prove himself in the real world, Austin stands tall for any assignment given him. Dependable (most of the time) and smart, he waits for anybody to let him make a difference in the universe. Just before he left, something was discovered about one of his works that disturbed the populace. He left in a hurry, and has stubbornly refused to talk about it. Good luck trying. At heart, Austin is truly good, though at times his attitude toward comrades is slightly irritable. He is a hard worker, and is skeptical about those he works for. Though if he finds someone he really believes in, his obedience is not to be doubted. He wants most of all to make a difference. |
