Being born on a Bolian colony, Jal's parents felt this was not a suitable place for him. A few months after he was born, they moved to the Bolian home world, Bolarus IX. Staying here for several years, they once more felt the pressing need to leave their home planet. They joined Star Fleet, and were assigned to the Sol system. The young Ryla grew up in an earth city called Chicago, where he went to school. But it wasn't until early high school that he developed an interest in science. Becoming interested in Astronomy, and later quantum physics and the theory of relativity, he was often behind on school project. While his teachers tried to explain him the difference between adhesion and cohesion, he had his head between the stars. It wasn't until much later in high school that Ryla saw the importance of what his teachers were trying to teach him. Having to fight for each next grade, he finally did graduate. With an uncommon interest in theoretical physics, he applied to the University of Stanford. After two years, he found that he wanted to know more than just the theory behind physics. He wanted to be out there, and do research. He spent another two years on a commercial science vessel before he started thinking about Star Fleet. A year later he followed his parents lead, and joined. |
