The Introduction

Tamagotchi came from a planet far, far away. You must keep Tamagotchi happy, or it will return home.

Tamagotchi is a virtual pet. For between $15 and $20, you can buy a little egg shaped container, which lets you to communicate with Tamagotchi.

When you first make contact with the little fella, it is a mere egg. In a few minutes Tamagotchi hatches into an infant. From here on out, the name of the game is nurturing. Using 3 small buttons on the egg container, the caretaker must feed Tamagotchi when hungry, play games with the creature to keep it happy, give it medecine when sick, discipline it when it misbehaves, and even clean it up after nature calls.

If you are a good caretaker, giving Tamagotchi lots of love and attention, it will mature into an adorable plaything. If neglected, Tamagotchi will turn into a rambunctious grouch.

The amount of time that Tamagotchi spends with you on Earth depends on how well you care for it. One day on Earth is equivalent to one year in "Tamagotchi time". Your Tamagotchi can decide to return to its planet in as little as 4 or 5 years (days), while the average Tamagotchi seems to stick around for about 10 to 15 years. Perhaps you will become the ultimate caretaker, and persuade Tamagotchi to hang out with you for over 25 years! Don't worry, though, for if one Tamagotchi takes off, you can adopt another, and start from hatch.
