The 2002 Rockies finished the regular season with a league best and team best 16 wins but were knocked out of the playoffs in the semifinal round. In 2001 Travaglino led the Rockies to a respectable break-even campaign of 9-9, despite several key injuries and player losses. Louis Travaglino missed managing the defending champs in 2000 due to illness. In his absence the players managed the squad themselves. The result was a 10-7 regular season record and an unfortunate first round playoff loss in defense of their title. In 1999, Travaglino skippered the Rockies to the National Division title, matching a team-best 12 and 6 regular season record. He also skippered the squad to its first-ever league championship in 1999, guiding the team to a 7-1 run through the DC MABL double elimination tournament. Despite losing their third round game in the double elimination tournament, the Rockies advanced to the championship series. The Rockies swept two games from the Herndon Orioles in the championship series. In 1998 the Rockies gained a first round playoff bye and again advanced to the semis before falling to the Fairfax Bulls. In 1997, Travaglino led the Rockies to the league semifinals, including the squad's first ever playoff win. The Rockies eventually lost to the Silver Spring Dodgers 8-7 in 10 innings.
