Pink Grease - All Over You
Now this is more like it. The debut mini album from Sheffield’s newest bunch of slightly weird upstarts is glam, gusty and great. Opener ‘The Nasty Show’ has singer Rory Lewarne yelping ‘I wanna fucking die for you, I wanna die fucking with you’ over the best use of a saxophone since ‘Danger! High Voltage’. ‘Susie’ sounds like a lost track from ‘Grease’ meets the opening of ‘The Muppet Show’ (sample lyric ‘where’s my best friend, there’s my best friend, there’s my best friend dancing with my girlfriend’), and you wonder just what the man himself would make of closer ‘Lou Reed’. With it’s New York Dolls influences, ‘All Over You’ is a chaotic party spread over 20 minutes. With Coldplay churning out the musical equivalent of chloroform the world is a happier place for the brilliant madness of Pink Grease.
