What they REALLY did!




Yes, I know, Shelby Marie was eliminated, after a 3 way tie because of a voo-doo doll stunt, quit telling me that fanfic!. Thats not what I'm here for! I wanna know what really happened! You know, how you determined the results, because Bettina didn't really climb into a tank full of sharks, right? RIGHT? Of course not. You've just been waiting for the 'Real' episode version!

Task 1: Live Cajun Music

I personally liked this episode a lot for one reason: The creativity. I didn't involve heights this episode for a reason, and replaced it with more interesting fears, just like stage fright! Its something almost everyone suffers, when they are suddenly thrown onto the spotlight. But to create this challenge, I actually did something similar.

I decided to have the contestants post on a forum: Any forum on the internet, anywhere. Then, after doing so, they must email me the URL. Once that is done, however many replies came BESIDES their own was worth 3 points.

Some contestants tried to get discussions started, and it wasn't easy. However, the only one successful was Michael. He managed to get 15 replies to his thread. Because of this, he earned 45 points.

Task 2: The Shark Tank

From the movie 'Jaws' to the news coverage of Shark attacks in Florida, it is a fear that haunts a good many of people (Some I have met). And where there are sharks, there is also water, causing some people to become twice as afraid.

For this challenge, I did have trouble. First, I was to do something that required a chat. However, nobody was able to show up, so I had to come up with a similar challenge over email. After thinking for a while, I devised such a challenge.

I gave the contestants a simple anagram: "aFtcro". Then, I told them they had to solve it, but to 'Take they're time'. I also mentioned that there was a specific way to earn points, but it wouldn't be revealed until the end of the challenge. The trick was, the later you turned it in, the more points you earned. The last person would get 100 points, second to last 80, and continuing down in numbers decreasing by 80. BUT you still wanted to turn in your answer before the deadline.

The only person to do this was Bettina. And since she did, she took all 100 points from the other 4 contestants.

Task 3: The Graves

This stunt was taken from a common forum-game, that is more of a riddle. Often, somebody will start a thread called, "A New Game". Their first post will read, "A New Game is here to be played/But I can't tell you the rules/Can you figure it out?". The secret is, each line is in alphabetical order. This continues from post to post, so somebody else might then come on and say, "Did I do it right/Excellent if I did!". And so the game would continue!

Usually, it takes people a little while to figure it out, and since there wasn't tons of time, this task gave people trouble. The number of times you played this game, equaled the number of points you earned (10 per time).

Bettina and Michael were the only ones to earn points, as Michael played 4 times, and Bettina played 7 times, leaving the scores at 170 and 85. This also created a 3 way tie between Josh, Shannan, and Shelby Marie.

Tie Breaker Challenge!

I decided to give a simple challenge for the tiebreaker: The last person to reply to an email would be eliminated. Josh replied soon, and after a short while, Shannan followed. This left Shelby Marie to be eliminated.

Final Thoughts

Shelby Marie was a very outgoing cast member who did play the game pretty well. Her main trouble was that she had never played an online reality game before, though was a Fear Factor fan, and that did create some problems for her. It is too bad to see her go, and I'm sure she will be missed from the game.
