~Kyle~
(Written October 2001)

Kyle was born Sunday February 11, 1996 at 4:09 am weighing 7 lbs 9 oz and 20 inches long, we were told he was healthy at birth, 30 hrs later they detected a heart murmur and I called my mom freaking as they ran further tests, 1 hr later they came back and told us it was more than a murmur and they had a team of docs from Chicago coming to get him..a few short hrs later he was diagnosed with Tricuspid Atresia ASD, VSD..

We were told he would need 3 surgeries to repair it, a bt shunt at 2-3 months, a bi-directioal glenn at 9 months-1 yr and a fenestrated fontan at 2 yrs! He did indeed have the bt shunt on time, he did great and was home in 4 days and at 9 months his condition worsened and they decided to try something they had not ever tried before..the bi-directinal glenn and the fontan in one step! He successfully had that done and was only in hospital 6 days! Today he is for he most part a healthy active little 5 1/2 yr old..he does tire easily but knows his limits..he bowls in a league, he loves to bowl. I feel truly blessed that God gave me this special child and everyday I have with him I treasure! Thanks for letting me share his story :-)
