Sara's Surgery Journal

Thursday May 15, 2003 ~ Cardiology Follow Up

On Wednesday night (last night) Sara developed a rash that I figure is thanks to the adhesive used in the tapes. Apparently it is quite common, just seems strange that it didn't show up until 4 days after the tapes had been removed.

We arrived at the hospital for 9 a.m. We went for the ECHO and the ECG. For both tests Sara was very guarded and nervous of what they were going to do...but she did really great!

After the tests we saw our Cardiologist. He thought she was doing really great as well and he could hear a "slight murmur or rub". I asked about the Aortic Valve Leak that was mentioned to us on the day of surgery. This is something that just was discovered at our appointment on the 22nd. The cause is from the larger of the VSD's, so when it was closed the leak went away. Something to keep in the back of our minds, but certainly nothing to worry about. We don't go back to the Cardiologist for 6 months, then he feels it will be 3-5 years after that.

After our official visits, we went and delivered some bubbles to Ramona (one of our nurses) to give out to her patients. (we had some while we were there and she mentioned she would like to buy some to give to her patients...so we decided to help out a little). We also visited, Mary, Bindy & Jennifer and gave out thank you cards.

Our family is so greatful to all the staff we came in contact with at the hospital. Everyone was so wonderful to us. These are some truly amazing people.

Can't really tell here, but she had developed
a rash from the adhesive used.

Since we don't have to go back for 6 months, we figured
it would be ok to do "painting nails". The girls
are showing off their freshly polished nails.
