3 Year Old Cardiology Check Up
Sara was really good all through her appointment and tests. She got to snuggle with me for the tests therefore she didn't need to be sedated. She was so still and so good for them...we are so proud of her. She has the ultrasound and the ECG.
Now for the bad news...can't seem to stop crying about it...I get strong and explain to family then I think about it more and start crying again. It seems it is Sara's time for open heart. She is doing really great and showing no signs of heart failure in any way, which is a big reason for doing surgery now. Her holes really haven't changed all that much since the last appointment two years ago...and her muscle bundles are getting bigger. At this stage the bundles aren't a problem but our PC figures within two years she will start to show heart failure signs due to the restrictions the bundles will create. So we find out within the next 10 days when surgery will be. He figures it will be in the next few months.
I kind of knew this time would not be the "all clear" I was hoping for. But I still wasn't ready for the words that came out of the PC's mouth. But in that same breath I would rather have this all behind us while she is still little and I am at home.
So there ya have it...keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

We got the call today for Sara's Surgery Date...Monday May 05th. We really didn't have much time to prepare or stress, which I think is a good thing. When we found out that Sara would need surgery sometime within the next few months, we joked and said, "next week would be good". OK...we were only kidding! When the OR Secretary called and asked if Monday was a good date...I joked with her and said "NO, but then again no date was going to be good, so it was fine"...she sort of chuckled.
I was a total mess when it came time to go to work. I was in shock. So by the time I got to work I didn't even get in the front doors and I was crying again. Everyone there was so awesome. They sent me home, and then arranged for my shifts to be covered for the following days to come.
