Beth Carlson
me ...
Beth, 43, lives in Seoul, Korea. I teach 7th grade humanities in a large international school in Seoul, Korea. I grew up in Asia, child of missionaries in Thailand. I have always loved Asia, so have gravitated back here, teaching in Malaysia for five years before coming here. I also taught high school for five years in Seattle, Washington. My biological family is scattered far and wide, but I have lots of other "family" that supports me strongly in my journey to Maia Lin.
my adoption plans ...
My agency is Bethany Christian, and my dossier went to China on January 18, 2000. I decided to adopt in June of 1999 after reading some articles in the Seattle Times about adopting baby girls from China. Before that, I hadn't realized it was possible for me to adopt. I have worked all my life with children as a teacher and have a deep desire to parent. I also know that my life's work is in Asia. I already feel attached to the Chinese as a people, having lived and worked with them in Thailand, Malaysia, and even here in Seoul. I intend to keep Maia in Asia and encourage her in her quest to know who she is in any way she wants.
