Anne, 36, lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I work for Pillsbury, as my e-mail address gives away. I'm a marketing research manager there and have lived and worked in Minneapolis for the past three years. I'm originally from St. Louis, Missouri, but have also lived in Durham, North Carolina; Stamford, Connecticut; and Chicago, Illinois (three times!).

My agency is GWCA, and I have requested a child under 12 months old. I started the process in October 1999, and my dossier was logged in on January 28, 2000. I've always wanted to have a child and knew a long time ago that I would consider a foreign adoption if I ever reached a point in my life where I was ready to take on the responsibility of parenthood alone. I'm very lucky to have a network of friends in the area who are supporting me through this process, including some who've already adopted from China. I hope that my brother will be able to travel with me, but depending on timing, I may be traveling on my own.
