Karen, 35, and LeRoy, 36, live in Lakeville, Minnesota, with our three sons, Ryan, 11; Tyler, 9; and Trevor, 7. We have been married almost 14 years. LeRoy is originally from Iowa and Karen is from Minnesota. We met at college — Iowa State University. LeRoy is a patent attorney and started a law firm with another attorney 2 years ago. LeRoy's new hobby is fly-fishing. He has spent this winter tying flies and learning as much as he can. He is anxiously awaiting warmer weather. He also enjoys coaching the various sports teams that the boys are involved with. Karen is a retired software engineer. She is at home now and enjoys volunteering at school (in the classroom and on the PTO board) and at church (as a Sunday school teacher and on the Bishop's Committee). In her spare time, she does the bookkeeping and billing for LeRoy's firm. As a family, we like many activities together — hiking, canoeing, fishing, skiing, skating, camping, and travelling.

Our agency is GWCA. We started the paperchase November 21, 1999, and our dossier was logged in February 1, 2000. We plan to adopt a little girl between the ages of 1 and 3 years. We wanted a younger child but also wanted to consider the age difference with our other children. Karen has researched adoption for many years. We have had friends and family who have adopted both domestically and internationally. We chose China for many reasons. The health of the children, the cost, the ability to travel and see our child's country, and because we decided (all of us — even the boys!) that we wanted a little girl. We also have a number of friends who are Chinese and we have been interested in the culture. Everything fell together and here we are!!!!! We are so excited and cannot wait to meet our new daughter!
