STARFLEET MARINE CORPS EQUIPMENT

The most important pieces of equipment in the Marine Corps is the Marine him/herself, second to the individuals are the weapons, armour and other implements the Marines uses to conduct his/her duties. Bellow are a number of common pieces available to the Marines:

Personal Body Armour (PBA):
The PBA is designed to balance lightness and comfort with optimum protection. The current PBA is capable of protecting the individual from a single, direct phaser blast to the chest at a Federation setting of 7.

Composed from several pieces, the main section being the rigid chest and back sections, which clamp in a clamshell system around the body giving full chest and back protection. Each shoulder is protected with a rigid two-piece section arch, which is designed to snugly fit over the shoulders and clamp to the body armour, allowing full mobility. Lastly a 3 piece flexible section covers the front abdomen and groin, and is prevented from hanging loose by a single strap that passes between the legs and connects to the back of the body armour.

Leg and arm armour is available. Clamshell sections clamp around the length of the arms/legs, with articulated sections for the elbows/knees. However leg/arm armour is externally mobility restrictive and is not recommended for standard uses.

All body armour is well padded providing both a comfortable fit, and added protection against knocks and impacts. The nature of replecator technology means that individual sections of armour can easily be produced for individuals, and custom fitting is available for those who require this. Procedure requires that all marines be provided with the PBA and a number "standard fit" PBA's are stored for emergency use (20% of the total Security force).

Unfortunately PBA replication is energy costly, and requires industrial replecator units to produce the sections.

Ships without Marines can acquire PBA's for their Security and Tactical Forces, however the high energy cost in replicating the PBA mean that PBA is not standard issues to all ships.

Protective Headgear (PH):
Developed alongside the PBA, the PH provides the same protectiveness. A single dome helmet fits over the head, with a single strap and chin piece from the left that wraps under the chin and connects on the right. The PH is equipped with a drop down visor section that provides inferred and night vision. Attachment sections on both the left and right allow a number of different PH peripherals. Standard issue to all Marines

PH Peripherals:

Light - High powered light to work in connection with hand or phaser riffle lights. Provides 6 hours full beam light.

Camera - The addition of the camera means that the Marine Commander, or additional personnel can view the current view of the individual wearing the camera. Additional operations such as inferred and night vision can be applied to the camera, by the operator (Marine Communication's Officer) by remote transceiver. This means the Marine Commander has unparalleled access to information regarding situations.

Tricoder:
Standard tricoder is ensued to all marines on away missions

Hand Weapons:

Grenade:
Developed along the lines of a phaser, allowing for different power settings for different situations. Setting ranging from 1-10, where setting 1 is capable of causing Carbon life forms to be stunned for a short periods, and setting 10 is capable of vaporising metal alloys and outer layers of rock.

Phaser Type 1:
Standard issue to all Marines, is stored during battle in a scan-proof compartment in either boot, is there to add escape if captured.

Phaser Type 2:
Standard Issue to all Marines, when on security detail or as a backup to type 3 in battle

Phaser Type 3 (all variants):
Phaser Rifle: Standard Issue to marines while in battle and on special assignments, where MARCO sees the need for a more powerful weapon.

Isomagnetic Disintegrator:
Used only when deemed necessary by ships MARCO.

Projectile Rifle:
Fires titanium projectiles propelled by expanding gases from a chemical detonation. This rifle is for use in areas of high EM interference (whether artificial or natural) that would render phasers useless.
