Before Another Shoot Ahead?

We should confess that at the beginning of these series we all thought of the fact that how great it would be, having the opportunity to write about a Hungarian player. In the last minute, Miklós Fehér took care of the season not passing without such opportunity. In the last series of the Portugese league, the player of Benfica scored three goals against Vitoria Guimaraes, which still became the fourth in the league, which is a good place. In our eyes, whith his performance, Miklós Fehér surpassed Bayern player Michael Ballack, who was successful twice in the final of the German Cup.

The performance of Fehér cannot be disregarded for different reasons. Earlier this season, Guimaraes got as many goals as during this game only once and, as we can see, only four team possess a better defence. Morover, the first goal of the Hungarian forward was a real experience, as on Monday evening on sports website Infodesporto it was the second (with very little disadvantage) in voting for the best goal of the series. Another interesting fact is that the almost 24-year-old footballer was served by Simao Sabrosa, who could be the top scorer if he had scored - but instead he gave others the opportunity to score, therefore he is the second, while the first is the Senegal Beira Mar player Faye Fary, who also scored 18 goals, but played less matches.
Fehér too participated in something similar: he was fighting for the title of Portugal top scorer for much time when he played in Sporting Braga (season 2000-2001). During the autumn local newspapers wrote a lot about him. Morover, a few famous European papers took note of him, as he had an important role in the unexpected success of the team. For instance, after the first 12 days of playing he occupied the second place on the list of scorers, the first having been Brazilian Pena, who eventually could not be surpassed by anyone. Fehér became the local topscorer, as he was earlier in Salgueiros, too. Moreover, despite a less successful spring, Braga closed the season occupying the fourth place, leaving Benfica behind.
"Miki frightens the defence to death. He is full of energy, all his movements are purpeseful and intelligent, he is strong in the air and skilful on the ground," his teammate, Brazilian Borges Odair said.
With the result of the unexpected success, Porto brought its Hungarian player home for two years. Beforehand, he was loaned without much thinking after he spent the first season mainly on the bench. Pursuance did not happen, although the past fave from Gyõr called the attention to himself also in the national team, scoring three goals against Lithuania in the World Cup qualifications. But he could not make an agreement about his future with his club, as a result of which the team punished him by not selling him, although several other teams were interested in him. This was a "rather cruel" punishment in case of a young player. By not playing important games, a part of his career was only wasting of time. He was just training for months, waiting for his contract with Porto to expire, and himself becoming able to get freely contracted.
This happy condition started last summer, when he got contracted to Benfica, the most successful Portugese team. He had to face real concurrents: Mantorras from Angola, Sokota from Croatia, and Nuno Gomes. The topscorer became the midfielder Simao Sabrosa, who also played in Sporting and in Barcelona. Fehér did not have much opportunity to play this season, but it was mainly due to his injuries.
This triple hopefully predicts that it will be different next season.
