Fehér Celebrated by Supporters of Benfica

The introduction of the team of benfica preparing for season 2002/2003 took place Wednesday evening. The players, one by one, entered the grass of Luz stadium before the eyes of 25,000 supporters. As it was expected, among the players was Miklós Fehér, who was not wearing the white and red strip of the team, as he will be regarded an official player of Benfica after 1st August, when his contract with Porto ends. But the player, when entering the pitch, was welcomed with ovation, moreover, the organizers made him the last among the seven new players of Benfica to be announced. Furthermore, the supporters did not know whether Fehér will be present at the performance or not. The Hungarian forward did not participate at the press conference following the introduction, but at the main gate he declared to the journalists: "I do not owe anything to Porto. Their putting me to the suspension list was unjustful, they did not help me develop, did not make me a better player, and almost destroyed my career. The preceding year was a nightmare for me, but now I feel very well".
The condition of Fehér seems to become solved, but he had not signed any contract with Benfica yet, as the new team has to wait until the court of justice (to which the player himself addressed a petition) decides about Porto not receiving the four million euros they claim for their developing the player.
The forward left Győri ETO in 1998, when he became a player of Porto. He did not play in the first season, while in the second season he scored one goal in five matches. Following this, he was loaned to Salgueiros, where he was more successful: he scored five goals in fourteen games. The real shoot ahead - still in loan - was meant for him by the twenty-six matches and fourteen goals in Braga strip. He has not participated in international championships since 2001. At the same time, he was wanted by Spanish team Atletico Madrid, the team of ZTE was also mentioned, but it seems that his next team will be Benfica.
