The Eternal Battle

teeth clenched in anger
a fight to the end
two men sat staring
neither to bend

on the left sat a prince
of infinite glory
the son of the gods
that was the story

the other a poor man
the enlightened one
set to wander the earth
by all to be shunned

the holy one spoke
and all there took heed
"live not only by faith,
but by word and true deed"

the other man boiled
his thoughts conspiring
"to cease all the pain,
end your desiring"

for days this went on
and many were swayed
the time passed by quickly
and bodies decayed

want of a savior
made some people come
others were frightened
of what they'd become

at last it was time
the bloody sun shown
earthquakes and fires
the strength of men blown

the Almighty God
came down from the sky
the Father of all men
had come from a high

He laughed at the men
stern look in His eye
"if only you'd listened..."
then gave a great sigh

He lifted His arms
the universe fell
all of creation
sent straight to their hell

His palace revealed
both men fell to shame
nirvana and heaven
were one in the same
