José was in England
JOSÉ WAS AT THE JAZZ CAFE!

I did not go to London until Monday so my first report is second hand via Alan's mobile when he was on the tube. SOOOOOOO! José is here and in fine form on both vocals and guitar.

He performed some old favourites and at least three new songs "I Faced the Music", "Killings not the Answer" which most of us have probably heard by now and a brand new song called "She's In My Blood" which I hope to hear and report on later in the week. After we all returned home Alan wrote following about Friday night. Janet, I’m not sure what you are putting for Friday, but from my point you can say that Jose’s voice and guitar playing were fantastic and of the excellent new self penned songs I liked She’s in my Blood the best, a soulful slow tempo number. The other high light for me was hearing his rendition of Cherry Baby for the first time. The whole bands performance was spot on.

Debbie has sent this report of Saturday nigt
I was less than Two foot away from the man himself and it was a superb evening, a mixture of old and new, he was better than last time, which was four years ago at the same place, and we thought that was great. More English speaking songs this time. A great mix of songs and instrumentals. Watch out for his new songs 'She's in my Blood' and the one he wrote after September 11th (I cant remember the title, maybe you will). He also did a great section in the middle in which he played his electric guitar, boy are you in for a treat. He also sang 'Light my fire' (eat your heart out Will young. That's how it should be sung). It was just a pure pleasure to watch somebody with so much talent. He almost finished on a song called 'Unforgettable' and that's just what he is. P.S. I don't know if he will do it every night but part of his encore was to play some other instruments, great, great, great. Hope you enjoy both evenings as much as we did Saturday. Long live Jose Debbie and Jeff

So where does one start ? Sunday night the 13th October ! Wet windy and nearly three hours of M1 traffic. Into Camden where to park ? without a clamp fee as an added extra ! 2040hrs sorted ! Into Jazz cafe, over to sound man.... Jose on about 2100hrs; just time to grab a beer. Thank god I'm not the oldest fan here, but note how many under twenties, some with parents. Oh sorry, "not embarrassing parents" just "older fans". One young lady next to me had never yet seen Jose and was not over expecting ! After all, he "was" at least, as old as her father ! 2105hrs arrives, as did Jose, on stage with a little help from his brother. Followed step by step with cheering fans and intrigued others. With the charm and whit of a politician, Jose eased into the minds and musical hearts of all. The electric rock and roll'em, did just that.... The young lady, still next to me, no longer in doubt, was in a groove of her own. The two hours plus was a magic mixture of the new plus golden greats, not least for those in front of the stage, close enough to reach out and touch. One guy seemed mesmerized by Jose's fast finger work, in fact I noted a moment when a nail appeared to cause a problem and a sharp intake of breath. After the usual encore and as Jose said "some thing different" to last night, once again it was over. But not before taking time to say thanks ! By now it was late, but half a dozen of us felt the need to hang on and do just that. As always Jose has time for fans, young and not so young (I need them as well ! said he). Chatting to the guys, relaxing after performing was a pleasure. Once again Jose, thank you. Now ! yo've heard about Sunday night, tell us all about Monday and Tuesday !Cheers,Fred PS. I still found my self comparing Jose of today with the Jose I first met in the sixties; like a good wine he has aged well.

OK Now it is my turn!I was at Jazz Cafe on Monday and Tuesday and even now five days later I find it hard to order my thoughts. José WAS,IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE INCREDIBLE but this was incredibly incredible.
He looked just like he did in 1973 first time I saw him. I did not make lists of what José played so I will give impressions today and try to draw the whole thing together into some order if I get the play lists I was offered by a more organised fellow fan.
SOOOOOOO "Guitarra Mia" even better without Marc Anthony :), "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying" (a favourite of mine), "Samba Pa Ti", "Superstition", Cast Your Fate to the Wind", "Purple Haze", Take a Leter Maria", and the new songs "Killings Not the Answer" which I like "She's in My Blood" a nice soulful ballad and "I Faced the Music" José asys it is a deeply personal song so all I can say is listen and draw you own conclusions. Gem followed gem but the real gem of this as of any Feliciano concert was the man himself joking, one minute telling us to pray for the victims of the Bali bomb blast the next. Two new additions to José's entourage added much in their differrent ways. The new bass player is called Frederico, sorry I don't know his surname. He seems very talented and looks a bit like Ricky Martin! The second new addition is José's brother Jorgé who is acting as his assistant handing him his guitars etc on stage. José is special as I realised in the few minutes I spent with him after the show......errrr has anyone ever had the honour of dancing with him because I did and any on who knows me is allowed to laugh at that point!

Now my two oldest Feliciano fan friends set the scene.

José's Recent Concerts in Italy

Hi all, I'm Fil from Italy, I don't think to come in London (unfortunately I must work so much this time) but I advice all to go at Jazz Cafè to see Jose, I see Him in concert in Italy two time un month ago and He's fantastic, his voice was great, the guitar ever the same and in concert make anything, past things, english, spanish and new nice songs from (they says) from un upcoming album in english and also the fantastic instrumenal "segovias". bye Fil

The next best thing to a concert in your front room!
It’s just four weeks until José returns to the Jazz Café and the tension is building. It’s four years since he last performed there and it’s an ideal venue to enjoy the special Feliciano magic. One of the many different songs José opens his gigs with, is the Bill Withers number "Just The Two of Us", and due to the intimate nature of the Jazz Café, that’s how you could easily imagine it - José playing and singing just for you, in your front room! OK, you might have 300 other fans in there with you, but the place just buzzes to that infectious groove that José and his band exhume. His repertoire of songs is legendary and that’s all part of the excitement. We just don’t know what he will perform, but be sure there’ll be something special for everyone to remember. Alan Wilson
