On May 4th José appeared in Colorado and a visitor to this site, Margo, wrote the following.

Last night, one of my lifelong dreams (to see Jose live) came true. Seats were first come first serve and we were first in line. The other three in my group wanted to gamble or eat before the show, but I said, after arriving at the Rivera at 4:30, I will stay right here and wait! I did, they came back and we had 4th row center seats, the first three rows were for Elite Club members. Jose came out on stage and for the next 1.5 hours, played his magic and sang and the audience was in awe---One thing we noticed also was the way Jose's band members looked on with deep admiration and respect each time he played. The magic in the way he plays guitar is like none I have ever seen! The seats in this concert room were all even on the floor so seeing him was usually not a problem, since we were so close, but watching the detail of his playing sometimes became a problem until I leaned down and over my husbands lap, so that I might see every move of his playing! When I think how many times he has played "Flight of the Bumble Bee",over his career and how he makes it sound like you are hearing it for the first time. He is magic. There is no question. He played some old things, Rock and Roll things, some Spanish things, (I am not fluent in Spanish but I imagine every song to be a love song and I have always thought that songs sung in Spanish, sound sooooo romantic. He adds his own strong, special touch , and some new things. His voice is as strong sounding as it ever was and he sounds as good if not better in person than recorded. I kept thinking how amazed I was that he did the 7 PM show (which is the one we went to) and did an encore and then turned around and sang for the 9 PM show. That is remarkable all in its own! He has a fantastic group of musicians on stage with him, talented in their own right but truly respecting the legend that sits before them. Jose was so humble in thanking us all for still enjoying the music he puts out and for just being there last night. Little does he know how their wasn't one person in there that didn't feel like it was the other way around. We left the room after the concert and each spoke of how much we enjoyed seeing him. How nice to see such a legend perform his magic, especially in a room that only holds 456 people! Unlike some of today's concerts which take place in arenas or outdoor stadiums, that hold 75000! I truly hold this as one of the highlights of my life and will cherish this experience for the rest of my life. Thank You Jose for a most wonderful evening!

Becky Quinones Wrote A LIFE LONG DREAM FOR ME CAME TRUE IN BLACKHAWK LAST FRIDAY NIGHT AT ABOUT 8:45. NOT ONLY DID I GET TO SEE JOSE FELICIANO....I MET HIM....I TOUCHED HIS HAND AND SPOKE WITH HIM. I SAW THAT HE WOULD BE IN BLACKHAWK, COLORADO AT THE RIVIERA AND TOLD MY BROTHER CHUCK WHO STARTED ME ON JOSE'S MUSIC BACK N ABOUT 1965 OR SO WITH " THE THEME FROM SANDPEBBLES". WE LEFT LAFAYETTE AT 5:00 WHEN WE WERE BOTH HOME FROM WORK AND SHOWERED. NOT BEING MUCH FOR GAMBLING....WE TOOK THIS ROAD THAT SAID FREE PUBLIC PARKING AND ENDED UP 1.7 MILES FROM BLACKHAWK ON TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN. WE SHUTTLED DOWN WITH A DRIVER FROM BROOMFIELD COLORADO AND HE TOLD US OF SIGHTING OF BEAR,MOUNTAIN LION AND BIG HORN SHEEP. WHEN WE GOT TO THE RIVIERA, I INSISTED ON GOING TO SEE EXACTLY WHERE THE SHOWROOM WAS SO WE WOULD NOT LOSE ANY VALUABLE TIME. IT WAS EARLY AND THE PEOPLE FOR HE FIRST SHOW WERE WAITING......MY BROTHER ASKED IF I WANTED TO GAMBLE OR EAT UNTIL TIME.... I DIDN'T WANT TO DO EITHER, BUT DIDN'T WANT TO BE UNFAIR EITHER. WE WENT TO THE BUFFET....IT WAS CLOSE (VERY CLOSE) TO THE DOOR WHERE JOSE WOULD BE JUST ON THE OTHER SIDE. WE ATE. I WENT TO STAND UNTIL SHOW TIME. MY BROTHER IS NOT A GOOD WAITER, SO I TOLD HIM TO GO AHEAD AND LEAVE AND I WOULD STAY IGHT AT THE DOOR. HE WENT TO TRY HIS LUCK AND I PREPARED TO WAIT...........THERE WERE ABOUT 7 PEOPLE SITTING AGAINST THE WALL ON CHAIRS. I WENT AND STOOD RIGHT NEXT TO THE DOOR. THIS WAS A GOOOOOOOOD DECISION AS I COULD HEAR SOME OF THE 7:00 CONCERT. HE WAS ENDING WITH "TELL ME WHAT I SAY" AND PEOPLE WERE CHEERING, SINGING AND WHISTLING. I WENT BACK BY THE DOOR AND TWO EMPLOYEES CAME OUT. I PEERED IN TO SEE THE SIZE OF THE ROOM AND WHERE THE STAGE WAS. THE DOORS SHUT. THEN, THREE MORE PEOPLE CAME OUT OF THAT DOOR AND I LOOKED IN AGAIN.....I FELT SURE I HAD SPOTTED JOSE HIMSELF AND THEN THE DOOR SHUT AGAIN ! DANG IT! I WAS SCANNING THE LINE NOW FOR MY BROTHER AND GETTING VERY NERVOUS AND EXCITED. I WENT INTO THE SHOW ROOM AND LEFT MY KEYS ON A CHAIR THEN I PASSED THE DOOR WITH THE BIG STAR THAT SAID JOSE FELICIANO AND THERE WERE ABOUT 15 PEOPLE STANDING THERE. THE DOOR OPENED AND A MAN ASKED WHO IS NEXT? FOUR PEOPLE WENT IN...... I STOOD THERE. THE DOOR OPENED AGAIN AND THE MAN ASKED WHO IS NEXT AND A COUPLE STANDING NEXT TO ME WENT IN. THE THIRD TIME THE MAN CAME TO JOSE'S DRESSING ROOM AND ASKED WHO IS NEXT, I BOLDLY SAID "IAM", "I AM NEXT"......HE LOOKED AT ME FOR A MOMENT, THEN SAID..."OK, YOU COME IN". I SAW DISHES WITH SOME FOOD, A SMALL SOFA AND AS THE DOOR CLOSED BEHIND ME, I TURNED TO SEE JOSE SITTING IN A SOFA CHAIR. PROBABLY A GOOD THING HE CAN'T SEE, BECAUSE I WAS STANDING THERE WITH MY ARM ACROSS MY CHEST AND MY HAND OVER MY HEART AND MY MOUTH WIDE OPEN JUST STARRING. MY FIRST "SMART" WORDS WERE...."YOU ARE JOSE FELICIANO". HE SMILED AND I REPEATED MY WORDS OF WISDOM AND STUCK MY HAND OUT TO SHAKE HIS. I FELT SO STUPID...HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I WAS DOING AND I PUT MY HAND BACK DOWN AND PROCEEDED TO EXPLAIN HOW FINALLY MEETING HIM AFTER ALL THE YEARS OF LISTENING TO HIS FANTASTIC MUSIC WAS JUST UNBELIEVEABLE. I WAS STUDDERING AND IN SHOCK THAT THIS COULD ACTUALLY BE HAPPENING. I EXPLAINED HOW MY BROTHER HAD TAKEN "THEME FROM SAND PEBBLES" ALL THE WAY TO VIETNAM AND JOSE ASKED IF MY BROTHER WAS OK. I WAS SO PLEASED HE ASKED ME THAT. I ASSURED HIM THAT MY BROTHER, ALTHOUGH SERIOUSLY WOUNDED, HAD RETURNED AND WAS DOWNSTAIRS GAMBLING. THEN, I ASKED IF I COULD PLEASE SHAKE HIS HAND AND HE PUT IT OUT AND I SHOOK IT THEN TURNED IT TO EXAMINE IT. I TWIRLED HIS HAND AND SAID "I AM ACTUALLY TOUCHING THE HAND THAT PLAYS SUCH MAGICAL MUSIC. HE WAS SMILING AND I THEN ASKED IF I COULD PLEASE GET AN AUTOGRAPH. JOS&EACUTE SIGNED MY TICKET THEN WNE THE SHOW ROOM DORRS OPENED AND A LADY ASKED FOR TICKETS. WHEN I EXPLAINED SHE SAID "OK, YOU CAN KEEP THE TICKET". W H E W ! I COULD BREATH AGAIN. THE ROOM DIMMED AND THE STAGE LIGHTS WENT ON AS THE MUSICIANS TOOK THEIR PLACES. THEN.....OUT CAME JOSE. HE WORE A BACK VEST AND SAT ON A STOOL. SEATING WAS GREAT. AND HE BEGAN WITH "CHICO AND THE MAN". HE SAID HE DOESN'T LIKE TO PLAN A SHOW BUT RATHER DO WHAT COMES TO HIM. HIS MUSICIANS JUST WAIT TO SEE WHAT JOSE STARTS DOING AND THEY FOLLOW HIM. THEY WERE GREAT! BUT NOTHING OR NO ONE CAN TOUCH JOSE'S TALENT....I TOUCHED HIS HAND AND SAW MY IDOL. AS HE PLAYED, I CRIED. I WAS IN SHEER BLISS. I CLOSED MY EYES TO SAVOR HIS MUSIC...BUT THEN HAD TO OPEN THEM TO GAPE AND STARE IN TOTAL AWE. HE PLAYED "AFFIRMATION" AND HE DID "LA BAMBA"... AND I WAS THERE AND I TOUCHED MY IDOL AND I SAW HIS FINGERS FLOW LIKE A BUTTERFLY OVER THE STRINGS AND GOD WAS SURE SMILING ON ME. HE IS THE MOST AMAZING TALENT AND GENTLE AND GRACIOUS AND HE PLAYED A NEW RELEASE..... SOMETHING LIKE "KILLING ISN'T RIGHT" ABOUT SEPT 11th. AND WHEN HE WAS DONE SWITCHING FROM ACCOUSTIC TO ELECTIC AND BACK AGAIN..... HE STOOD.....HE STOOD AND ROCKED WITH THE MUSIC AND I FELT SO STUPID JUST SITTING THERE CRYING. HE IS A TREASURE AND WE ARE THE RECIPIENTS. I BLESS HIM AND HIS TALENT AND THANK GOD FOR THAT GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY. YES FANS.....I MET JOSE FELICIANO...THE LEGEND!
