Room Makeover

Done using Adobe Photoshop 6.0 and Elements

Before

After

Artist Statement

I was given a task to transform the room under the category "Before" into the one in the "After" category using Photoshop.

The technical tools used in transforming this room include the lasso, patterns, perspective, skew, and rotate tools. The lasso tool was used to trace the outlines of the walls and windows in the before image. The pattern tool was used to fill in the selections made by the lasso tool. The perspective, skew and rotate tools were used for adjusting the shape and perspective of the furniture placed in the "after" image.

For this room, I have a background of Toronto's skyline. Naturally with me living in Toronto, I chose that picture for the background. For the wall paper I used denim. I find the denim contrasted well with the green carpet. The furniture I used are all from Ikea.

All in all, I find this project to be frustrating regarding the perspective of the furniture. But other than that, I consider the project to be quite easy to accomplish.
