This is a wood smoke source that blows all around my neighborhood,and on children walking to school as well.
| Students on their way home from school,in the WSISD will find smoke filled air as they walk down cherry lane to their homes.
Today,8/13/03 smoulderring wood smoke was in the air from the 800 block of cherry lane all the way to tacoma and beyond.
The children walking from brewer high school,brewer middle school,and the elementary school in white settlement will be exposed to smoke today when they return home.The source is the 800 block of cherry lane and although the city and the school district have been alerted,the problem is continuing.This problem has been around now for 5 months and no action has been taken to deal with this matter. Results of exposure to smoke include,and the list goes on. Children are particularly susceptible to health problems from smoke. The best way to deal with this is to avoid being exposed to any smoke. Repeat exposures increase the risk factors for health related problems. Children are at a very high risk for health problems because of "still developing" immune systems. 8/14/03 Another day of smoke for the students of Brewer High School.The wind is blowing the smoke onto cherry lane once again.The incinerator like smoke is nauseating to drive through,and walk through. 8/22/03@2:15pm Smoke blows down cherry lane today as the kids walk home from school.The nauseating smoke was visible coming from the back of the bbq business and blowing onto cherry lane and could be smelled from the car as I drove by.Repeated exposures will injure children and adults who are exposed to this.Pedestrians on this road have no choice but to walk through the smoke.  8/28/03@2:45pm It has been 15 days since school started, and it's yet another smokey day walking home from school for students from wsisd.Smoke was being emitted from the back stack of the smokehouse behind the bbq shop in the 800 block of cherry lane onto cherry lane, and could be detected past the car wash north,on cherry lane. Breathing wood smoke is very similar to breathing cigarette smoke.For a good article click here. Apparently it is ok for students to be exposed to this unhealthy pollution on their way home from school and in a restaurant,but not cigarette smoke.
