Linear Equations

Solving Linear Equations

        Example:  2x - 5 + 6x = 3x + 10

1)  Add or Subtract all like terms on each side of the equals sign.
                  8x - 5 = 3x + 10

2)  Put all variables on one side of the equation.  Any side will work.
                  5x - 5 = 10

3)  Then get all none variables on one side.
                  5x = 15

4)  Last, divide the number without the variable by the number with the variable.
                  x = 3
