Literal Equations

Solving Literal Equations

                    Example 1:  C + J = H ;  solve for J

1)  All you do is move the C to the same side as H.  Just like a linear equation, just without the numbers.
                                 J = H - C

Example 2 : R - H = JP ;  solve for P

1)  This is no harder than the first example.  When you need to move a variable and it is being multiplied, all you do is divid it from both sides.
                                 R - H/J = P
