Slope Equations
Slopes!!! Always the fun stuff!! Well if you are dealing with slopes then you are dealing with lines!! Right? Right!!! There are Three different ways to find and write slopes!!!They are all pretty easy!!! Here they are:
~~~~~~~ Slope Intercept Y=MX+B
~~~~~~~ Point Slope Y-Y`=M(X-X`)
~~~~~~~ Direct Variation Y=KX
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Slope Intercept is good and easy. As you know, the equation is Y=MX+B!! M is the slope and B is the point where the line crosses the Y axis! So those are the numbers you are given!! Plug and chug from there and you end up with a pretty equation!! Lets try it!!
M=3 and B is (0,6)
Y=3(x)+6
Y=3X+6
There is you Slope intercept equation!!!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
In point slope you are given a set of points and and M!! Your job is to take those points and plug them into the proper spots!
So say you have the points (2,3) and M=5!! Set it up!!
Y-3=5(X-2) ~~~ Y-3=5X-10 ~~~ Y=5x-7
There you go Buddy!! Good job!!!
Now this one is a bit more complicated!!! You are given a set of points!!! Say (4,3) and the equation Y=KX!! Plug and Chug!! 3=K(4) K=3/4!! Now you are not done yet!!! Now plug it into the equation when Y=-2!!! So -2=3/4(X)
-2/1*4/3=X ~~~ X=-8/3!!! Wow great job again!!!
See these equations can be simple if you know how to do them!!!! Thanks for visiting!!! C-Ya!!! mandy
