JUNIOR'S CENTER FOR THE
MATHEMATICALLY IMPARED

hey my name is junior ..my teacher sed not to give oyu my last name so just call me junior.. if you like me you have had trouble with math in the past ... well my personal experence ha inspired me to make this web padge (and the little fact that im getting a grade for it ). so maybe i can help you with this little padge!! are you redy for the adventure of a life time?! well

 if you are please do that later and read my padge.

3x+2y=8
x=3y+10
         3(3y+10)+2y=8
      9y+30+2y=8
       11y+30=8
              -30  -30
       11y=-22
        11     11
         y=-2
      x=3(-2)+10
       x=-6+10
      x=4
   (4,-2)
ok now we are redy to begin ... lets start with the basics.. how about some SUBSTITUTION dont be scared i will go along with you lets go!!      ok now look to the left . there is a prob i wil walk you through.....
ok now for the first step... ok look at the equations there is one problem!! we have to much stuff!! ok so scence we know that x=3y+10 we can just replace the x in the other problem with (3y+10)!!
ok now distribute the 3 to the 3y and to the 10.
now combine the y's
now subtract by 30 on both sides, and the 30 cancles and you have -22.
 now divide by 11 on both sides to get rid of the 11y.
and y=-2.
ok now that was e-z but we are not finished!!! now we have to find the x.
so just "plug" in -2 everywhere you see a y! and you should get the answer!!!!!!
 now all you do it put them in an ordered pair and your finished!!!!!!!! see now that was to e-z!!
DO YOU WANT ANOTHER ONE!!!!!! YES WE WANT MORE!!!!
lets go a bit faster!!!!!

ok now that was to e-z lets do something that requires some thinking les try ..........
        LINEAR COMBINATION
                          5X-2Y=4
                          3X+Y=9

                           5X-2Y=4
                       2 (3X+Y=9)

                           5X-2Y=4
                           6X+2Y=18

                           11X=22
                              X=2
                           5(2)-2Y=4
                           10-2Y=4
                         +10       +10
                          -2Y=-6
                            -2     -2
                              Y=3
                           (2,3)

OK NOW THE FIRST STEPP IS TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE LIGNED UP OK !! AND THEY ARE THE X'S ARE WITH THE X'S, AND THE Y'S ARE WITH THE Y'S
OK NOW THAT HTEY ARE LIGNED UP NOW YOU SEE WHAT YOU CAN MULTIPLY ONE OR BOTH OF THE EQUATIONS SO THAT ONE OF THE LETTERS WILL CANCLE OUT( YOU CAN MULTIPLY AN ENTIER EQUATION BY ANYTHING IF AND ONLY IF YOU MULTIPLY EVERY THING IN THE EQUATION BY THAT #!!!!) IN THIS PROBLEM WE WILL MULTIPLE THE BOTTOM EQUATION BY 2.
 NOW THE Y'S CANCLE OUT AND YOU ARE LEFT WITH 11X=22.
NOW DIVIDE BY 11 ABD Y=2
NOW "PLUG" IN 2 FOR X AND YOU WILL GET THAT Y=2

SEE NOW THAT WASENT THAT HARD WAS IT??

  now lets do some ...lets do a word problem!!!

    "The twins problem"

  Michelle and julie are 17yrs old twins, and are saving their money to get a car. The first week julie worked 14hrs and michelle worked 8 hrs, that week they made a total $168.00. The next week michelle worked 12hrs and julie worked 16rhs and they made a total of $162..... how much money wil hey make after 100 hrs??

-first week-14j+8m=$128
-second week-16j+12m=$162
- -3(14j+8m=$128)
 2(16J+12m=$162)
  -42j-24m=-384
  32j+24m=324
  -10j=-60
j=6

 14(6)+8m=128
84+8m=128
8m=44
m=5.50

6(100)=600
5.50(100)=550

after 100hrs they will make a total of $1150.00

ok now i know what your thinking but its e-zer than you think!
now befor you.......
dont worry i will walk you through it.

the first step is to find exactly what your looking for . in this case you wil have to find exactly how much money julie and mitchelle make an hour.
-so the first you need  to make an equatioin for the first week.
-the second you must find one for the second week.
-then you use linear combo(see topo of padge) to combine the two equations
  (now keep in mind that the six is how much julie makes per hour)
- now plug in how much julie makes and find out hou much michelle makes
-now multiply your answers by 100
and now your finished!!!

gr8 job you realy blasted thet problem
