It Begins

It begins with the eyes, At first innocently drinking in The stage and the ambiance. Momentarily safe and protected, Revealing only a flicker of interest, Barely a hint of what is to come. Once connected, they silently engage In a dance of want and desire. The intensity of the stare, A betrayal of all logic and reason, The mind unable to further conceal, The yearnings of the heart and the soul. The weakening is swift, A total and complete surrender to The warmth and the touch And the closeness of another. A mutual attempt to fulfill The overwhelming hunger between the two. A series of explosive culminations To this involuntary, primal ache. It ends as it began, weary and drained, The eyes meet again, In unison, Their sweet song of satisfaction.
Edmond Aman-Jean
